Hi Everyone
My dashboard centre heater duct has been broken since I bought my car in 2011. I've noticed this item on Ebay and thought it might do the trick:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261710552854? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Unfortunately I'm away skiing until the end of the week and can't check to see if it's the same. The central under dashboard duct feeds two outlets and I've a feeling that because of this it's wider than the two side ducts.
Can anyone advise please?
Cheers
Alan

Alan, what would you like checked? Size of the central duct compared to the side ducts?
Skiing in Aveimore, Glenshee, Glencoe, or dare I say the alps ?
Found this picture on Chris Vines blog about his Series 2. Picture seems to show relationship in size of the different nozzles. Dunno if this helps you on your 3.8 liter.

It's the Y piece I'm interested in not the flexible ducting. The S2 dashboard appears to be more complicated than my early S1. So I just need to check if the central Y piece is wider than the ones on either side.
I'm in the French Alps at the moment. The skiing is phenomenal. A foot of snow fell on the first night we arrived and tonight yet more snow. Only four more days of this- how am I going to cope!
Cheers

Check out the 3.8 workshop manual on the Knowledge Base, Section 14, page 7, figure 3
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/849 ... xhaust.pdf
It shows an equivelant line drawing of the inverted dash panel (compare to Chris Vine blog picture). The line drawing shows the huge length of the side nozzles vs the later version. Similarly the centre nozzle is a single item, compared to a double item on the later version. Check also SNG "later version" SBS1062 (3 elbows & 2 Y-splits) vs SBS1061 (3 elbows).
For my money, the e-bay item is not what you're needing.
Is your's broken or missing. If just broken, can it be mended with hot-melt glue (good for bonding to iffy thermoplastic) or epoxy & glassfiber mat.
Enjoy the skiing

Thanks for the info. I'm also of a mind to repair the damaged Y piece as well. It's also hard to judge which Y piece is for sale without another pictured beside it.
Anyway I'm off for another beer after a hard day's skiing. The chalet even has a beer tap in the boot room- life doesn't get much better than this.
Cheers

Anyone an idea where I can get One of the "air vent grilles" which are to be found under the dash on a 2+2 ?
It's a complex design. The base part has 5 Flaps which can open/close, then an "air Diffusor" is snapped on this part.
I need One diffusor....

Check out the Chris Vine blog that I linked to a few posts ago. If I remember correctly Chris actually made a silicone mould for one of his un-obtainable broken vent blades. Given the mould exists, it should be possible to make a few more. If you have any luck with Chris then maybe I can buy one too. Mine are also broken.....

Sounds like heaven !
I have a cabin in the mountains here, and get "powder alerts" on e-mail when there is large snowfall. Guess what just ticked into my mailbox :-)
Unfortunately it's already a "girls weekend" at the cabin, so I'm not going. But I do get 48 hours of fiddling with XK engine and gearbox in my workshop, with nice cold tins of beer. Almost as good as powder skiing!
