The speedo in my 1967 E Type does not return to zero. Everything else is fine.
Is it possible that oil has migrated up the cable and gummed up the unit? Short of taking the unit apart for cleaning is there an other answer?

Yes, it is possible . If you disconnect the cable and have a look at its top end you will soon see . I think the only thing to do is to remove the speedo and give it a good cleaning on the spindle inside . It's not a difficult job .What to use is always a bit of a problem , but carb cleaner , or electrical switch cleaner , in small quantities ( don't get it on the face ) may help
