3.8 Alloy dash in 4.2
#1 3.8 Alloy dash in 4.2
I know its not original, but I really like the alloy dash/gear lever/tunnel trim of the 3.8 and I was thinking of putting it in my 66 4.2 FHC. Will the 3.8 trims fit without modification??

I would expect the dashboard trim to fit, but if you have a cubby box on the console you would have a problem as they were not fitted to the alloy-finished cars. It may be possible to modify it of course.jemt wrote:I know its not original, but I really like the alloy dash/gear lever/tunnel trim of the 3.8 and I was thinking of putting it in my 66 4.2 FHC. #3 Cubby box
My 3.8 OTS was made in early `64 and hence should not have the alu parts, BUT it does, and has surely had it for a very long time by the looks of it. And I like it very much. Car is black and interior is red. Works really well. The main benefit is the absence of the cubby box, which on my other E-types get in the way of my elbow when changing gears. Central armrests are for saloons, not sports cars. Yes, they can be handy for keys and wallet etc (cigarettes in the olden days....)
