Where to put a jack

Chaps,
After looking through other posts, I have come to the conclusion that the jacking points were not replaced when my car was rebuilt so, can anyone please advise where are the "strong points" where it is safe to use a small hydraulic jack for wheel changing, also, where is a safe place to use a trolley jack at the front so as to get both wheels off the ground?

make up a bit of wood the size of the channel on the front picture frame and place it in the "U" section and then jack up from here. DO NOT mistake for the radiator support bracket or else you will get 2 large dents in the top of your bonnet from the top radiator shroud support studs! Its a bit of a fiddle guiding the block and jack into position but by far the best way to jack up the front

FWIW, I made up this block for jacking up my car about 25 years ago. It's a chunk of spruce 4" x 4", 16" long, with a 1" wide strip of 3/8" plywood nailed on the centre of one face.



The plywood strip fits in the bottom channel of the picture frame, keeping the block from sliding around, but the load is borne by the 4x4. The extra height allows the bonnet to open even with the floor jack still in place.

Like me, it's crude but effective.
