Yes, very good. So good in fact you can buy and use the various bits of trim on a Factory original hardtop or indeed buy the CMC fibreglass and use original trim bits on it. Buying from eBay rather than CMC saves you the VAT.

Fibre glass hard top moulding, without interior headlining ?500.00 + VAT
Perspex rear screen ?163.00 + VAT
Rubber seal for perspex screen ?40.47 + VAT
Insert rubber strip for screen seal ?3.51 + VAT
Pair of chrome mouldings for rear screen including joining pieces ?650.00 + VAT
Pair of cant rail chrome mouldings ?450.00 + VAT
Pair chrome finishers at bottom of cant rail chrome ?350.00 + VAT
Chrome moulding across front of hard top ?93.49 + VAT
Rubber seal for front of hard top ?15.21 + VAT
Pair of rubber seals for cant rail ?21.14 + VAT
Rubber seal for rear of hard top ?9.03 + VAT
Hard top centre clamp ?40.76 + VAT
Pair of outer hard top clamps ?90.55 + VAT
Pair of chrome hard top mount brackets ?43.79 + VAT

Yes, they are very good value if you just want a hardtop but they lack the original detail of the CMC one (notably the chrome).

#9 Very pleased wiht it

I have it, in body colour, on my S1 in Willow green from 1967. Good fit, but required a bit of adjustment to fit the rear panel, between the curved rear side panels. Very good finish on chrome and headliner.

#11 Hard top

Post by ernie » Mon Jul 27, 2015 7:27 am

Hi
Just wondered if using the hard top will mark/ scratch the paintwork on the rear section of the body ie where the top sits? That happened in my SL and so whilst the hard top looks good and is a solution for all year motoring I am slightly put off by the possibility.

Every one I have seen has marked/scuffed the paintwork, nature of the beast. It is only held on by the front clips and the two chrome side brackets so as the body of either top/car flex it marks the paintwork. Best solution is the one adopted by SNGB for 50 EE - remove the hood and frame and permanently install the hardtop.

In my case, when fixed properly, just have a little bit of scuff that a mild polish can easily overcome.

I used clear tape to protect the paint under the rubber seal. Removing the hood (or not fitting it) is a good idea, as it gives lots more room inside for taller people. It allows the full range of seat movement on recliner cars.
