#1 painted spare wire wheel
Dumb question of the day. If you ordered chrome wire wheels from the factory, did you get a chrome or painted spare? My car was sold with chrome wires, but the spare in the boot is painted gray. I suspect it came with the car when new, but I can't prove it. Chrome wire wheels were a ?43 option, and Jaguar was just cheap enough to provide 4 chrome wheels, not five.

The J30 SPC says they were supplied in sets of five:
The price list also says Chrome Wire Wheels (plural) at a cost of ?42/10/0 plus tax so they were sold in sets of five. They were an option so owners had one or the other. Only time you had a mix is if you ordered "Racing Rear Road Wheel(Wire Spoke, Painted Stoved Aluminium)" when you had to order a minimum of twoin addition to the standard wheels.
