#1 Repro early series 1 steering wheel

Post by paydase » Sat Dec 12, 2015 5:41 pm

Original steering wheels are now costing a lot and not easy to find in good shape.
When looking for one for my 3.8 to replace my Moto-lita 15", I found on ebay that there were nice repros of the early beech laminated CTB steering wheels:

The vendor, Nick Reeves, was referred to in a post on restoration of steering wheels and David (Heuer), who had one installed on his FHC, had praised its quality:

The repros are fabricated with pale laminated mahoganny and lacquered, it can be requested that they be not tainted.
You can also acquire a gear knob in the same wood if you so wish.
Just bought one and wanted to share my experience and show pics.
Overall, the quality is superb, judge by yourself:

Nick's stuff is fantastic. I have used his rims for all the wheels I've restored.

Coincidentally I bought a rim set from him yesterday.
