Steve - no nothing as exciting as scraped in the car park - that'd be a legitimate reason to ask DVLA for the owner's details! - it's just that the original service document has turned up on e-bay with the maintenance vouchers - and while I'd like to buy it (my car hasn't got either), I'd be disappointed if mine turned up and no-one alerted me...... hence the interest in finding the owner in case he (or she) hasn't spotted it.

Seller also lists the Running-in and RAC application and the JDC prospectus and application - neither of which are particular to that car - so I will probably bid on those - so hopefully won't be bidding against anyone else on here! Will probably leave the other (ERC22C specific stuff) - so if anyone else is interested........

I see the buyer paid ?605 for these items:

* Original Jaguar Operating, Maintenance & Service Handbook.

* Original Jaguar Sales & Service Facilities in he United Kingdom

* Original Jaguar 4.2 E Type Periodic Maintenance Voucher Booklet with Servicing stamped by a Derby Garage up to 12,000 miles as at November 1965

* Original Jaguar Cars Pre Delivery Inspection Sheet - Unused

* Original Jaguar Owner's Service Policy signed & stating date of delivery of 4.2 E Type as being 26th February 1965.

* Original Jaguar Brown Plastic Service Book Wallet - see photograph

Only 2 of of the items seem to be specific to the particular car.

Just seems such a shame that they were probably not re-united with the present owner.

From what I've seen recently on E bay, there seems to be a growing interest in Jaguar memorabilia with seemingly mundane documents commanding high sale prices
There is currently a 60s Jaguar Compliments Slip on its own with a bid of ?111 and time to run. There is also a document wallet on its own for ?149. So while initially ?605 seems a lot, if a dealer bought these and split them up he would probably make a tidy profit. Let's hope that's not the case though.

Did anyone ever trace the owner of the E type that the above items relate to?

Simon

Folks - yes I let the main lot go - I agree it's a shame it probably hasn't been reunited with the car. I did bid on the other two - the Running In/RAC items and JDC prospectus - but baulked at the eventual price. I'm looking at another JDC prospectus at the moment - I'd like to have the set as it would have been given to the first owner if I can....... but prices are a bit too rich for me - ever the bargain-hunter!
