Hi John.....you are in the best position to value your own car....it will take 10mins to search ebay, auction sales, and classifieds, to get an idea of prices.....where are you selling it..in your own country,....are you prepared to put the time ,effort into shipping......you can compare condition of advertiesd cars to yours.........otherwise post photos here so everyone can judge condition for themself......you will probably get some offers.. That's a good question. The prices seem all over the place at the moment.
Is it possible to advertise a car for sale on the forum?
I would say that your car could be between ?80,000 to ?110,000.

Check out Hagerty insurance classic car values...that will give you a range to use as a benchmark.

If you are contemplating buying to restore then you might need to consider the cost of restoration. Done professionally you can spend ?100,000+ doing the restoration. Doing it yourself will save vast amounts in labour costs of course.

Hagery says a 1966 4.2 FHC in excellent condition is worth ?108000. That is not to say you would be able to sell for that. Maybe more...maybe less.

You can easily get asking prices from any number of classic car web sites or eBay. Auction results give a good guide to what has been paid recently too.[/b]

If it needs restoring it cant be in excellent condition can it?

If its good condition then the real question is how much restoration does it actually need? The value is driven by its condition and without seeing any details we are all guessing. eg if you intended a full restoration then the actual value might only be 20-30K max.

I suspect its actually in need of a rolling restoration and you need to work out what needs doing and what that would cost first before deciding what its worth to you.

Best thing is to post the car details here...we can then give a better idea of its value

Buy the most complete and solid car you can. Buy a cheap car that needs extensive body repairs and you will end up paying more or the same but you won't have an original car.

I bought a good driver/older resto original Aussie delivered 4.2 FHC 18/12 ago for $AU90k.

A similar car sold in Melbourne recently for $AU160k.

Our market is a bit behind the UK market but I'd guess you'd be looking at well over $AU100k. Ring Shannon's Insurance and ask them.

Thanks for all the positive advice ,the car will need full restoration I will do all this my self, I am a Professional Paint sprayer so can do body & paint with no problem as well as trim etc. I have restored several E types so I am familiar with the marque.
Just not sure what they are worth finished , This will have a full nut & bolt Restoration so will be Excellent to Concourse when finished.

will post picks when car arrives
