Petrol supply pipe renewal

Hello all,

I need to replace the original under-floor petrol supply pipe on my '66 2+2 due to a leak. Has anyone had experience of doing this without draining the tank? Will the petrol pump stop the contents of the tank syphoning out?? I'm prepared for a bit of mess from the petrol on the engine side of the pipe but I filled up the tank for the winter and don't want over 10 gallons of petrol all over my garage floor!

You should be perfectly ok providing you are only disturbing the pipework after the pump i.e. between pump and engine . Just make sure that you disconnect the battery before starting work . Incidentally, I don't know whether things are different with a 2+2 , but with the short wheelbase cars IIRC it is impossible to change the feed pipe without lowering the rear suspension

Hi Steve...Christopher is correct re the irs....depending on how bad your pipework is and if you dont want to drop the irs you could put in a joint just forward of the irs
