3.8 Lifting Point

Hi,

I'm in the process of disassembling my 62 3.8 OTS and am about to remove the engine. However there don't appear to be any lifting points or lifting straps. The service manual suggest that Jaguar used a special tool (Churchill engine lifting plate). Can anyone advise please ?

You should have two chromed lifting hoops between the cam covers.

The Jaguar tool is a load balancer and really not required providing you have an proper engine crane. e.g.: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/categ ... ine-stands

Thanks for photo. Unfortunately my car doesn't have those hoops fitted. Might nip down the breakers and see if I can find some.

For what it's worth; the lifting brackets were fitted from Aug '64 on.

Do you know if they're also fitted on more recent vehicles such as the XJ ?

Neil,

Martin Robey lists them:
C23607 ?12.14 ea

Ideally, you also need the matching/longer studs: C23609 ?5.20 ea
