#1 Underfelt fitment

Post by jonr » Sun May 29, 2016 9:45 pm

Hi, I have a series 1,5 and I am in the process of fitting new underfelt.
But I am not sure if the parts are correct:

The bits covering the gearbox tunnel are not symmetrically at right side and left side. Is this correct? And why? The tunnel seems pretty symmetrically to me:

And at the floor, the cut for the footwell does not match the floor/footwell. Is this correct? (The picture shows the centre section of the underfelt)

Hi Jonr,
although you can fit the earlier carpets, there shouldn't be any separate pieces of felt on your car. The correct carpets should be felt backed (flock) and will be easer to fit.

On my RHD series 1 the carpet on the left hand side is not fixed and allows access to the gearbox housing. There is a flap inside the carpet in which to tuck the undefelt.

My carpet set came with separate underfelt and was easy to install. However I ditched the underfelt in favour of closed cell foam to discourage water in the footwells. Also installed koolmat first.
