#1 Gearbox mount bush

I'm currently replacing my gearbox mount rubber items (has all synchro box fitted) as there has been a clunk when driving on rough roads which would all but disappear when I held the gear lever firmly. The bush that pushes into the mounting plate had virtually disintegrated so I suspect this is the culprit. It is a red item so not a Jaguar part. I have a replacement bush and spring seat rubber to fit but the bush seems quite loose on the pin. Should this be so?
Cheers

Yes it's not a tight fit, more a restraint to excessive movement. Some mounts have two spring rubber cups BTW.

Thanks Pete, I did look at the SNG drawings and only the one rubber seat was listed for the bottom of the spring.

Well, technically, none of the parts are shown for your 3.8, so it just depends what flavour of non-standard mount you use for your modified car.
They started out with one rubber cup and added a second by S2, which continued for S3. I'd use the later setup. Besides, although I love SNGB and think they fo a stellar job, I'd always go by the factory parts list rather than a vendor catalogue, on principle.

Pete, I'm hearing you re using the factory parts list - good advise.
The non-standard mount on my modified car (gee it sounds like a bitsa) is from a S1 4.2 or at least the spring seat attached to the gearbox is, as the spring is a snug fit, not allowing for a rubber cup.
Cheers.
