Hi there,

I'm progressing nicely with strip down of my 3.8 OTS ready for its trip to Hutsons for bodyshell restoration. I'm close to engine removal but first I need to remove the crankshaft pulley. The Jaguar Heritage Trust Service Manual rather usefully just says 'remove the crankshaft pulley'. I have got the 4 half inch bolts and the main nut retaining shim removed. However on trying to undo the main nut the crankshaft just turns. Does anyone know how I stop the crank turning and which way I should be turning the main nut ?

Any help/advise would be much appreciated !

Regards,

Neil

Hi,

Panic over. Turns out the 4 bolts I removed are all that's necessary. 47 years of rust had welded the pulley stubbonly in place. Trustee mallet has solved the problem. Now for engine removal !

I'll post some pictures soon.

Neil
