#1 Aerial hole

Post by PaulColeman » Mon Nov 21, 2016 7:53 pm

My S1 FHC has an aerial hole in the right hand side of the bulkhead. Would this have been a factory drilled hole or aftermarket? It seems to line up pretty well with the holes in the A post stiffeners so if somebody else did it they got it pretty much spot on. I'm tempted to fill it in as I think it spoils the lines and fit a powered hidden one somewhere. Whilst I'm doing the bodywork now is the hour.

What have others done?

Paul.

Mine (1967) has one but it's a left hand drive car so i don't know if it was factory fit or not.. I'm not doing bodywork at this stage (maybe in the future) so was thinking of taking the aerial out and fitting a offside mirror. I just wonder if it will work for visibility. Doesn't answer your question, but it's something I have been thinking about.

I know of one car that had the aerial hole in the buklhead from delivery.
My car has the aerial in the rear wing, and it is an aftermarket fitment.

I welded up the hole in mine for the same reason you mention.

I am fitting a windscreen with an aerial in it.

Oh, forgot to mention. I never extend the aerial. With so much music from the car there is no need to listen to anything else.
