#1 Carpet fasteners

Post by Monkeyfinger » Fri Jan 07, 2022 5:44 pm

Can anyone advise if there should be any form of fastener to hold the footwell carpets in place for a roadster? (assume same for FHC, but you never know...)
Now that I have new floors and new carpets, I'd like to get these looking neater

Richard, BAS have a complete range of carpet fasteners and should be able to advise which are suitable.

Check what holes there are in the floor pan to have fasteners attached in case they have been welded up and ask for Jack as he is very knowledgeable. Good luck.

Much appreciated Geoff - those are the fasteners I used to have. The carpets are from BAS, so I'll check with them. I just wasn't sure what (if any) original fitment would have been. I haven't checked, but I assume there are no holes in the replacement floor pans, and I always like to match original as closely as I can.

Richard, a photo of the passenger side carpet with masking tape to mark where the fasteners locate.

Don’t know how correct this is as there’s been work in the area in the past, but they seem to work. Maybe others can comment?

Cheers

Very useful Geoff, thanks. That seems to be the area where the carpet tends to lift up. Not sure how to deal with the underlay in that area, but I will investigate. I went for the original style of underfelt rather than the modern foil backed version.
