#1 Choke cable S2 2+2
Hi Guys.....just had the choke cable tighten up(been getting tighter for months) so decided to renew......hear we go dash top out etc.. the replacement that arrived was approx 3in shorter than the one fitted......& could not be used.........checked with the supplied who confirmed the length was correct & that the 2+2 was the same part No as all other S2.....Question..my existing cable runs straight back from the carb linkage & through the bulkhead right next to the top bolt on the upper frame mounting which is next to the cover for the steering coloumn. Then from inside the car up the side of the airvent & into the dash....any one confirm this is the correct entry point on a 2+2....Steve......Ps about time i got a parts book....anyone confirm one that details the 2+2 with diagrams & part Nos.......Thanks Steve

As far as I can tell the 2+2 is the same as the normal cars from the dash forward. I only have the S1 4.2 pats catalogue which shows the part number as follows:

The associated diagram is of no help. I seem to recall the cable drops down immediately after the choke control (so does not go straight back to the bulkhead) to a hole on the upper surface of the footwell and straight out to the carbs.
Trouble is even though your supplier may claim to have supplied the correct part there are many experience's of getting stuff that is 'close enough' to be sold as valid parts. You may need to persevere and get the correct cable length.

Practically nobody has an illustrated Series 2 parts book unless they're either in the hens tooth/rocking horse manure market or have shelled out serious money for Richard liggett's self-published S2 parts book .mgcjag wrote:....anyone confirm one that details the 2+2 with diagrams & part Nos.......Thanks Steve
Was your car a US import? If so the Strangleberg choke is a different two-cably affair I *think* so the dash parts may be different.

Hi Guys.....thanks for the replies......the car is a standard UK model....Ive solved the problem of the stiff choke by removing the inner cable & straightening out a few kinks cleaning up & replacing......Its now for info only that I want to know the correct run of the cable from other 2+2 owners & to confirm if a different cable was used from the FHC.......as an example of things not being the same on the 2+2 I recently needed a water hose from the rear of the manifold to the bulkhead pipe.(an S shaped pipe) .this was not included in the complete pipe kit as the supplier said they were no longer available. After hunting around most of the suppliers with no luck I had to resort to a pipe with a similar shape......Steve

FWIW. Liggitts parts book gives 2 different part numbers for the choke cable.
C.29043 fot OTS and FHC and
C.31397 for 2+2
Hope this helps

#6 Series 2 2+2 manifold water hose to bulkhead
I have had a similar problem trying to identify the hose and part number from several recognised part suppliers. They keep telling me it is a straight pipe which it is not. I still have the original and as you say it is 's' shaped. Like you i will have to source a similar shaped pipe. If anyone does know the correct part number i would be very pleased to know it.mgcjag wrote:Hi Guys.....thanks for the replies......the car is a standard UK model....Ive solved the problem of the stiff choke by removing the inner cable & straightening out a few kinks cleaning up & replacing......Its now for info only that I want to know the correct run of the cable from other 2+2 owners & to confirm if a different cable was used from the FHC.......as an example of things not being the same on the 2+2 I recently needed a water hose from the rear of the manifold to the bulkhead pipe.(an S shaped pipe) .this was not included in the complete pipe kit as the supplier said they were no longer available.
