fit a xjs diff ?

OK,
2nd. try..
I?m from Germany and the last 6 years in have restored a '71 E-type FHC with weber and a 3.54 US Diff, Getrag 265.
I drive it a lot and am tired of listening to the engine scream at 70 mph.
so, I'm looking to reduce the rpms.
I'm being told the XJS has a 3:07 posi that will bolt up in an E-type without modification, and that the XJ-6 3:07 is not posi. Does anyone know if that's true?
what?s your opinion for using an xjs or xj6 axle?
many Thanks
Utz

If you have a 265 with overdrive fidth your engine should not be screaming. It will rev about the same as a normal 1:1 top gear in a 2.88 diff car. 3.54 is a good diff for a five speed although it's ture the 265 first gear is too low and will be nicer with a lower ratio diff.
All XJ-S had limited slip as did all V12s in any model. Few series XJ6 did, although they were available by special order so they do exist.
