#1 Brake Servo replacement

Post by Kes » Sat Aug 23, 2014 11:18 am

Hi all, wonder if anyone can tell me whether replacing the brake servo on my S2 roadster is a fairly straightforward job, or do I need to remove all the stuff around it to get the old one out/new one in? It seems to be pretty tight in there and the surrounding engine frame means there's not much space to work.
Thanks.
K

It is straightforward but it has to be removed downwards and so the lower shields have to be removed

Wow! that's straightforward - even I can manage that. Perhaps I should have asked this first but the brakes have been binding; after releasing my foot from the brake, they're sluggish to free up again - it's uncannily like the assisted hill start on my Honda Civic! Advice I've had so far seems to point to a faulty servo - do you agree?
Thanks for the quick and helpful reply by the way!

I would check the small piston behind the reaction valve on the master. Remove and clean then reassemble with plenty of rubber grease.

Ok thanks for the tip - I'll get that done before moving on to the servo.
