Hi, I've just heard that the starter that came with my restoration project is totally shot, so I need to get a new one.
I always thought that any E-Type starter would fit, but I think I read somewhere recently that that is not the case.
My car is a 1969 Series 2 2+2 that is being restored with a 4.2 roadster engine, a DS420 manual gear box with overdrive.
Which starter should I look for? Thank you very much everyone for any pointers in the right direction,

Look for a modern high torque lightweight starter motor and check it has the correct number of teeth to mesh with your flywheel. e.g. http://www.fossewayperformance.co.uk/hi ... er-motors/
