hi all
need to replace rocker cover gaskets on my 2+2 .
do i need to do it hand tight or is there a torque setting for rocker cover nuts?

I do them up using a screwdriver handle on a 1/4" drive 7/16" socket. I nip them up slowly all round and finally hand tight using this method. I never torque them down, I dont apply sealant, and just occasionally there is a little weep of oil so I tighten them up a little more. I've heard that others have found cases have been cracked due to overtightening. I prefer the chance of an oil leak, which can be corrected easily to the chance of a cracked cover which can't.

I go 4 ftlb then 7 ftlb if they leak.
I use ordinary paper gaskets and spray Hylomar on both sides.

All those nights on fire watch duty, designing a world-class DOHC, wasted. That's what playing with desmodromic valve gear does to you....
