#1 Radio Console Removal S2

Post by Steve Marshall » Sun Jun 04, 2017 12:01 pm

What is the secret to removing the S2 centre radio console?

I removed the radio fascia, hoping that the secret screws were hidden there, but no luck.

There are two large chrome acorn nuts next to the speakers, but they seems to be the only visible fixings. Looks like there might be a couple of missing screws above the acorn nuts.

Hi Steve...yes remove those 2 acorn nuts then up above them right at the top above the speakers 2 knurled black plastic head skrews just like the ones holding the drop down switch/instrument panel...you will then have to probably remove the center console to get it out

Thanks Steve

It took a small crowbar! - due to extra sound and thermal insulation pushing the console upwards. I think others have had similar problems.

Makes it impossible to lower the centre panel section, so that is another item on the must do list!

Correction - it seems to be the fibreglass gearbox cowl (original was steel) which is either too thick or dimensionally wrong.

The radio console now goes up and over the lower bar of the switches.
