Does anyone know where I can buy a pair of speakers that will fit the radio consul with the radio installed.

I have tried several modern speakers which are around 40mm deep and they are about 5mm too deep. I understand this is a common problem.

Many thanks, Kris

I think these are the Pioneer ones that fit my S2 eBay 401062026681. Not great at high volumes, but you can't really expect to hear the wireless in an OTS anyway I suppose.

When my S2 was converted to RHD, Angus took exception to my DAB radio and tasteless speakers. I now have a period Radiomobile and dummy speaker covers for style but listen to the radio through a bluetooth speaker I got for £20 from Amazon using the internet on my mobile. You can also use a memory card or connect to your Ipod. It works well, is discrete and no wires

Hi Kris,

I wanted to keep a period radio (with phone link for DAB & Music) using the original speaker mounts in the centre console, so I fitted these low mounting depth speakers and grills from Tadpole Radio. Here's the link and they are 6th item down the page: http://www.tadpoleradios.co.uk/RadiosFo ... ccessories

They work really well and are good quality items, I should add I have no connection with the company apart from being a happy customer.

Hi All,

Many thanks for your advice. I tried the Pioneer speakers last week but returned them. They are about 42mm deep and I couldn't get them to fit.

This morning I took a hammer to a NOS Clarion 4 ohmm speaker which is a genuine 40mm deep and got it to fit. I bent in the four supporting arms on the speaker to give about 3mm more clearence (see photo).

Have not tested it yet but thinking it should work OK. Not expecting great sound as I am using a stock Motorola model 114.

Regards, Kris

I used a pair of Metra "1" universal spacer speaker adapter bracket SL30" rings with my low profile Pioneers. They worked great.

Hi
Another option I did was to mount the speakers and original grill to some 18mm MDF. This gave better speaker response, and enough clearance from the gearbox tunnel to mount a pair of pioneer base speakers. The MDF was then contoured to the profile of the original grill and painted in plack wrinkle paint. I then screwed the whole thing to the radio console from the inside using the original holes.
This can easily be reversed and put back to original, should I choose, as I have not modified the original grills or the console.
