I've just refitted my throttle linkage and I find that the horizontal bracket assembly slightly fouls the windscreen wiper motor and therefore will not sit properly against the bulkhead. It's not a lot. To cure it I will probably need to shim it by 5mm at each of the bracket. But I'm wondering if it's something I've done, or perhaps I have the wrong wiper motor fitted to my car. You can read the part number in the photo. It fouls worst on the cover plate screw next to the piece of red tape in the photo. I did wonder if I could move the w motor down slightly, but the mounting points are quite fixed. I'm thinking that the numbers 44 74 are possibly a date code in which case my
w motor definitely isn't original.
Anyway, as ever your thoughts are most welcome.

S1 cars linkage looks like this....

Hi Andy,

My S2 had two thick washers when I dismantled it that looked to have been original. Without those my bracket fouls the wiper motor. It can’t be spaced off the bulkhead too much as it affects the geometry of the various linkages and might make one of the rods foul the header tank if yours is fitted on that side.
Not at home at the moment but will take some pics if you need them.

As Chris has pointed out, you have the inner fulcrum lever the wrong way around

The inner fulcrum lever can only go on one way round. In the picture the linkage is partially disconnected and the lever has fallen into the position in the picture. Once properly connected, the lever will have rotated 180 degs clockwise. I have photos of how it was when I dismantled the car, and I've also paid attention to the manual and the SNGB parts catalogue. I was having trouble getting WOT but I've moved the plate underneath the pedal housing which has cured that problem. I've shimmed the horizontal bracket away from the bulkhead, fitted the headers tank and all appears OK.

The S2 parts book lists 6 special washers BD542/3 under the bracket c24767. The washers are oval shaped and are the same washers as used on the bonnet.

The plate which the pin is mounted on has ovalled holes to allow for adjustment. Yours is adjusted fully down. Can you move it up?

When I took the picture everything was loose, so gravity had pulled the horizontal bracket down. I have now set it as high as it will go and used some round washers to shim it away from the bulkhead. I know the washers that you mean Greg and thanks for the heads up. I have a load of them in a box, and I in fact used some to secure the battery tray recently. I'll count how many I need to secure the bonnet inlet grill, and if I have some left over I may fit them in place of the round washers.
