I’ll be refreshing my front suspension shortly.
While I’m there i might as well change tyres, they are getting old and also are 215/65/15, far too big for my original chromies.
I’m thinking on going back to original 185/80/15 or 195/80/15 which being slightly fatter will brake even better and being larger too helps my 3.55 diff.

Which one would you recommend, 185 or 195?

185VR15 - the ride, handling and steering is sublime and you drive with your finger tips.

Here's one more vote for the 185-15. You'll find that the car just feels "right" with the original skins. Back in the '80s, the 185-15 was difficult to source in the U.S., and I experimented with various tire sizes. The one that fit on the stock wheels without rubbing on anything was the 205/75-15. They filled the wells nicely, but they also gave the car a nervous feel at speed, and they tended to follow the rain grooves in California freeways.
