Hi All,

So 200 miles after my engine rebuild etc. we went out on a Jaguar drive out day yesterday and it started raining (first time out in the rain since the rebuild) and...

Switched on the wipers to slow and they didn't work, tried fast... same problem. At first I thought fuse but the fuses (6 &7) are shared with other things that worked fine. Then i thought maybe a duff switch but before pulling it apart I thought to try the washers and they didn't work either.

Luckily I had RainX'd the windscreen and the rain stopped shortly after reaching my destination so at least I could see where I was going.

This evening I have spent a little time chasing the wiring with a multimeter and have worked out that they both share the same earth feed and sure enough, a temporary earth fixed the issue.

Does anybody know where the earthing point is for these two items? I assume I have either disturbed it during the engine out/in process or left it off by mistake.

With help from Steve (mgcjag) I have located the earthing point which is a small lug underneath the washer bottle and an earthing spade connector.

The lug had sheared off. Not an easy fix as it is bolted to the car body and the nut is behind the side panel on the drivers side which is a bit of a pain to get to as it doesn't come away easily as it fouls on the throttle.

But sorted!
