#1 Rim & tire sizes

Post by brycerose » Thu Dec 26, 2019 3:38 am

I am in the market for new tires for my 71Series 2 FHC etype. Currently I am running Dunlop SP40 a/s 205 70R 15 white walls on the standard wire wheels. Looking for input tire size and what brands owners have had the bust results with. Thanks.

Hello

I see you're new on the forum, welcome to the best place for advice and help.
Please include your name and car in the signature, it's nicer to address responses to you by name and it always helps to see which car you've got for people to respond.

For your S2 FHC go for original size tyres (note spelling  ) 185VR15. The Pirellis get very good reviews, though they are expensive. You'll find 185s are far nicer (IMO) than 205s, I've had both and find the original size tyres are much my preferred option.

Some people go for 5.5 inch wheels to make the tyre sit slightly fatter on the wheel and hence fill the arches more. 205s are chosen to look more modern.

Have a look here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13955&hilit=Tyre+options or search Tyre options.... the subject has been discussed many times and ends up being down to personal opinion...Steve
