It appears to have left hand drive wipers and a switch panel that has done well in excess of 2000 miles...

Curly hub wheels and 2 ear spinners...but im just being picky.....as far as i see it its main feature of only 1700 miles that the high asking price is based on would be difficult too prove........Steve

This seems mad. Apart from the price, the mileage suggests that even before the long lay up, it only did 1700 miles in 8 years. Really?
Also, the bonnet fit doesn't look great on the view shown from the right.
I know Alan Collins, and I'm sure the work he did would be great, but the lack of miles since his work would cast doubts on the state of the moving parts again - 5 miles since re-commissioning 10 years ago. Wouldn't even have warmed up!

What's up with that steering wheel rim? I didn't know they came that thick?

Center laced wheels never supplied on any E, missing driver side parcel shelf - perhaps like the wipers from when it was a lhd AC car? Steering wheel is either 15” or fatter wood, probably both. A car which is either an over-priced fake or a vehicle whose ongoing value can only be preserved by never driving it...!

Lets assume the bonnet isnt locked, but rear bumper alignment, passenger door fit, rear hatch (maybe not fully closed?), hole for antenna ...seems to need at least the body (and paint) shop again

Is the description naive or deliberately misleading?

Where is the aluminium trim on the centre panel and console as per the description?

I'd like to think that anybody with that much money to spend on a classic would do their homework and/or seek advice from a marque expert.

Stuart

Thanks for the link Gerry,
The late Mr Ashcroft, the cars previous owner, seems to have been an interesting character if the auction blurb is anything to go by.

One for Angus......
Quote.

Understood to have been a deeply eccentric individual, Mr Ashcroft made such erratic stage payments that work on 'KAR 66G' was not completed until 2009. Passing its last MOT test on April 30th that year, the Jaguar has covered a mere five miles since then. Apparently, Mr Collins recalls his former customer switching from a full-blown rant to a request to service his everyday car almost within the same sentence and thus being as likely to threaten mischief as offer praise.

It has failed to sell twice at auction even with far lower estimates than the current asking price. In addition, there are too many slightly offbeat features to support the very extraordinary history alleged . IMHO a vendor would be lucky if he got half what is asked

I thought all the Series 2's bonnet struts were on the LHS of the bonnet ??

Looks to me like the strut isn't even connected in the photo on one end.

The most interesting and believable thing in the H&H link was seeing Chas Mortimer cited as their motorcycle transport contractor. Anyone else remember him? He was one of the UK’s most consistent and successful GP riders before Sheene. Very nice guy and ran a successful racing school. Taught me a lot about racing Yamaha twins.
