Hi, I have a Jag e-type 2+2, 1970, 2 carburattors. In the airfilter box there is a kind of valve which takes air from the hot air duct. the rubber membrana which is there is broken. Can somebody tell me where I can find such a part. They do not have it at sng.
Artur

I have just written a full explanation yesterday. It was on this forum or Jag-lovers.com

Whilst it is usually nice to have everything working as the car left the factory, this is one item where you really won't notice that it's not working or not there, especially as it's probably not been working for years - unless you're planning a drive across Siberia any time soon.

It was only fitted to the very late cars, Series 1 cars and most Series 2 have nothing. The important part is to check that the flap inside the airbox inlet is either removed or set to allow only cold air in.

Dear All,

thank you for all the answers and help. You know sometime we are trying to be to perfect that is why I'm looking for that part. Any way I will appriciate very much if somebody can tell me how to fix that rubber which is inside. I took it apart and I will put it back together but just for now I do not have idea how to replease that rubber membrane.

Hi Artur.....if you cant find just the rubber then you could look at replaceing the whole air filter box..I know its not ideal....but there should be lots about.....most US imported cars would have them and many in the UK would convert to UK spec with 3 SU carbs....try a post in our wanted section....Steve

Believe me, Artur, if you have dismantled that servo in a way that reassembly is even possible, you know more than 99% of us, including me. If a flat round sheet of rubberised material is perished or torn, find a similar piece of rubber or plastic sheet and use the old one as a pattern. If it works by moving a rod riveted to the centre, use a long thin threaded rod with washers and nuts to clamp it. If you opened it by carefully unfolding the edge, bend it carefully back with glue or sealant to help it stay air tight. It would be great to see pictures and you will be the new king of diaphragm repair*.

Hail King Arthur of the Round Servo

*If you get an email from a clinic asking you to repair their diaphragms, say no.
