When I disassembled the rear engine mount from the tail of the gear box on my '71 FHC it certainly was not to standard.
Working with the assembly drawings from SNGB I have ordered or machined all the parts to put it right.
The question I have regards the Gearbox Stud (part C21336). There is a cross drilled hole in the end but no indication if there is supposed to be a pin or bolt or what when it is assembled.
Any chance someone could provide a photo of how the assembly is finished in the car?
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim.....the cross drilled hole is to fit a pin just as an assembly aid....it should not be left in place once the gearb/mount is fitted to the car....Steve

I think the pin may have been a shipping aid to stop the engine/gearbox moving around too much in transit and to be removed during pre-delivery inspection. On later IRS lower shock mounts they added a bracket to chain or strap the cars to the deck, but that was just the XJ and XJS I think.

The US bound etypes also had them in 1974 Pete.
I left them on my car, even though they have no function now.
kind regards
Marek
