Head studs and driving light electrics !

Do head studs need to be replaced every time the head is off or are they reusable?
Also my lights are causing me some head scratching.... I thought it was the switch for the lights that had given up the ghost but ive gotten a new one and still no joy. The bulbs work when I flash them on the steering but the switch does nothing. Is there a relay somewhere?

Is it possibly a problem with the headlight dip switch on the dash adjacent to the brake fluid light? There are normally no relays but it can be done as an upgrade.

Do you have the head studs out already?
Plenty of threads on here about long stud blocks and studs snapping .

They certainly should not need replacement every time the head is off. The life span in my experience is in excess of 30 years on the long stud blocks , and more or less indefinite on the earlier short stud blocks. Of course, if you are completely rebuilding a later long stud block , then it makes sense to replace them unless they are obviously quite new

I agree with Christopher. Your studs should be fine until you rebuild your engine at which point you would routinely replace them all.

WRT the lights if you look in the Knowledge Base you will find a wiring diagram for your car. It should be a relatively simple process to trace the power for the lights and work out where the problem lies.
