Hello,
I am servicing the box on my 1969 2 + 2 and want to check the idle and kickdown pressure.
According to the manual there is a bolt adjacent to the control cable input at the front left hand side of the gearbox near to the bellhousing, which is removed to allow the pressure gauge adapter to be fitted.
However, on my gearbox, which is the original, and on several photos I have looked at on the internet it is not where the manual indicates it should be..
I have removed the access plates on the transmission tunnel etc but cannot see anything in these areas either.
Are there any auto box owners out there who know where it is and if it accessible.
Can anyone out there help solve the mystery?
Thanks,
Nigel.

#2 Re: Borg Warner 8 Auto Box Pressure Check Mystery
Hi Nigel,
Third post in this jag-lovers thread suggests another position for the pressure tapping on some Model 8s, on the opposite side of the box to that shown in the ROM.

I would be wary of removing any bolt/plug on a gearbox without being certain of its function first. I haven't used them but this outfit sound as if they should be able to help.

#3 Re: Borg Warner 8 Auto Box Pressure Check Mystery
Hi Bob,
Thanks for your message.
I have found it this afternoon with help from an SC parts illustration.
It is actually on the the rear left hand side of the box just above the sump.
Interestingly if I now read the take off position in the text in the manual rather than look at the picture it actually describes left hand rear face but with the wrong picture!!!
This confusion starts in the original manual I am looking at it as I write and was copied without clarrification by Haynes etc.
Eve does not give up her secrets easily.
Mystery solved.
I am now a happy Teddy .
Thanks again,
Nigel.
