Hi All

I am trying to source a piece of trim for my S2 coupe which to date I haven’t seen catalogued by the normal suppliers. The trim is a u shaped edging that has a braided appearance that is located vertically on the inside of the b post close to the door shut post seal but on the opposite side of the door catch. It’s about 15” long and runs down to the mid point of the inner sill butting up to the door card when the door is shut. Any help appreciated.

I think he's meaning the piece that isn't fitted in that picture.

Darren what you're talking about is I think not factory, although is fitted to lots of cars to prevent damage to the vinyl edge shown in Christopher's picture.

It's just a generic clip on channel edging. It does have a commercial name but this escapes me at the moment.

Yes that’s the section I am referring to Chris but as Andy states mine has a u cross sectioned piece of trim that is fixed over the section in the photo. It is hard to described what it is made of but appears braided in appearance. It’s not rubber and is probably a form of plastic.It finishes the edge off nicely but mine is a little worn. Having completely renovated the interior theses two strips of trim are all that remain to be replaced.

Could it be furflex ?

Wow Furflex that’s that’s a new product to me but no unfortunately not but many thanks for the suggestion. This item is quite rigid but has some limited flexibility. I will try and upload a photo (something I always seem to struggle with). I am beginning to wonder whether as suggested it isn’t original but certainly looks made for job. Thanks again.

Is this what you are looking for? As suggested by Christopher above. Search through Woolies site, there might be something else.

I think what your looking for it Titanfast edge trim.......the original was a herringbone pattern that as far as im aware in no longer available but other similar patterns are......SNGB have it in the body fittings section.....search Titanfast here on tne forum...plenty of info.....Steve

Yep, definitely Titanfast, and certainly an S2 feature. Whether it was fitted to all S2s I don't know, but mine had it originally, and it got left off during the restoration. I've got a length of it from Woolies that I keep meaning to get round to fitting some day (probably held back by the fact that I'm in two minds, as the 'unprotected' lip seems far less vulnerable that I'd imagined it would be). It's available in white, and so being vinyl can be painted to match the rest of your interior trim - as per original.

Also interested to know if should be fitted to all S2 cars. Mine is car No.55 and was never on the vehicle during our family ownership (40 ish years), so perhaps only a later fitment? Assuming same issue for OTS as the coupes...The edge has certainly worn over time, so perhaps a later factory mod to counter this?

As i mentioned above....dont know if it was on all S2 cars....you would have to check parts catalogue details..Steve

For information, I cannot find reference to this piece of trim in Haddock & Mueller’s Originality guide but there are pictures clearly showing it on a late Series 2. My car is early 1970 and pre restoration was largely original having only covered 50k miles and being unused for nearly 30 years, so I believe these are original to my car. I also note on some pictures of 2+2 cars, a similar piece of trim is used but is longer and extends beyond the bottom of the glass line where mine ends and appears to continues up towards the top of the glass line.
