#1 Burnt out alternator relay

If anyone wonders what a deep fried alternator relay [6RA] looks like, here is a fine example. It explained why my ignition warning light remained illuminated, and the source of the smell near my battery. I'm guessing the insulation within the windings had broken down leading to low resistance hence high current flow?
