3rd and last query tonight!! Yes, it's been a frustrating day in the garage!!
Refitting the choke cable to the connecting rods the 'securing pin' at the end of the cable broke!!
Looking at a couple of spares sites, the pin that I took off (and broke) doesn't appear genuine? It was a small nut/bolt with a hole in the bolt for the cable to go through. The spares sites both appear to show a trunnion, although I'm not sure how that would be secure - and the diagrams on the sites were not clear?
Is anyone au fait with this linkage

is what should be in there. Note that there's a small setscrew that goes in it and locks the choke wire in place.
