#1 E type 2+2

Post by C Kyte » Thu Nov 17, 2022 2:24 am

Hi, can anyone tell me what year Jaguar increased the rake the front windscreen and fitted extra bit in the dash. I have looked up all my books and can't find a year they did it. My car is a 1969 2+2 and has the extended screen. I am having trouble getting a windscreen for my car. I think it is the same as Ser 111 2+2, the rubbers are the same. I live in Australia and there is Nill stock in Australia.
I would like to know because we got a Ser 11 2+2 screen, but it was not for my car with increased rake.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Have you tried Classic Windscreens in Sydney (Lidcombe) https://local.infobel.com.au/AU10054830 ... combe.html

When I last needed a screen for my Series 3 I got it from them.

Good luck

Hello Chris,
Being a 1969 2+2, your car is a Series 2. If the windscreen you got is not for your car, then clearly, its not a Series 2 or 3 2+2 windscreen, which are the same.

A large, national distributor of Windscreens in Queensland, had wrong windscreens listed for various E Type models on their web site, based on the windscreen's dimensions and It took me some time to convince them of their mistake. In the mean time, I suspect that incorrect windscreens would have been supplied to people with little knowledge of the correct dimensions for the various models; simply ordering off their online catalogue would have ensured that.

Regards,

Bill

Yes I have an S1 2+2 and they have the steep angle windshield…making it a bit „the ugly ducking“ of the range…
