What s the best Electronic ignition a man can fit to his E Type ? let me have your suggestions.

I don't have one but Edis/magajolt judging by all the forum info and discussions....much easier install would be a programable 123...

I have had a few 123s on different cars and they have all been 100% reliable.

The basic model more than does the job.

Agree, I use a basic 123. Switchable curves on the body of the distributor. The blue tooth one looked far too complicated for me. I’ve found it perfect - totally reliable. Car starts on the button

123
Edis.

All have done the job . Do they still make Lumenition?
All reliable, some have commented that the distributor cap on the 123 is a poor fit.
With Lumenition if it fails ( mine never did) you can revert to points at the roadside. Get a decent coil.

Never buy one of those cheap copy distributor, absolute rubbish.

123 certainly gets many votes but don't rule out the constant energy system fitted by Jaguar to the Series 3 XJ6.

Reliable - and you can carry a replacement for the electronic module as a spare if you're ultra paranoid.
Correct advance curve, both mechanical and vacuum.
Can be bought new or secondhand
Better value than a 123 especially if you use a low mileage secondhand one

Whatever electronic ignition system you fit, it will show up the rest of your ignition system so new 8mm leads, rotor arm and distributor cap from a reputable source are also a must. And an appropriate coil if it doesn't come with one.

As long as it's wired up correctly (usually not in line with the instructions) your original rev counter will continue to operate correctly without modification.

Good call on the 123. I have three units (tune+) on different cars and several years in all have been dead reliable. Something to consider between the 123 basic and the tune+ bluetooth version is the the bluetooth unit can provide real time data via a cell phone when driving which can be useful, as well as on the fly advance tuning or swapping among advance curves for testing without even opening the bonnet.

I'm sure that's right about the 123 tune, but posts on here suggest you need to be pretty smart to fit and make the 123 tune work. Unless you need all the advanced facilities of the tune with remote info etc, the standard 123 is easier to fit.

Just for info the standard 123 use dip switch to select a curve......none of these curves match the original curve for S1/S2 cars as per the service manual......that dosnt mean that for most who use this and select setting 2 don't get good performance and are happy with the their 123......Steve

My 1970 Series 2 is fitted with Pertronics electronic ignition.
It's a good choice.
