Hi friends. After winter my jag fired up with no problems. However with a new noise. Yes, valves will be seen to. Anybody?

Henrik, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Please add your name and car type/series to your signature area by clicking on your user name top right. It helps others answer your questions appropriately and politely.
Do you have the later head on your engine which has the 12-14 thou valve clearances? They are noisier than the earlier engines, especially when started and running cold.
Have you driven the car since winter lay-up? Or only run it at idle? Just running the car and not driving it can emphasise the clattering sound from the wider valve settings but this quietens down after driving the car and the engine getting properly warm.

Do you have oil pressure.....oil at correct level?....when you turn off can you hear oil draining back down to the sump......check timming chain tension....then think about removeing cam covers and checking things out....Steve
