#1 Electrical Wiring and harnesses for Ser 11 1970.

Post by gerry59 » Thu Oct 30, 2025 9:21 pm

Hi Guy's

Looking to rewire my Ser 11, would appreciate some info on anyone who know;s off any good suppliers, or individual auto electricians who specialise in rewiring harnesses or with wiring kits for engine bay and dash.

Thanks

Gerry.

I’m planning to rewire mine over winter (time and weather permitting) like most I will use Autosparks for the harness items. They can also provide a booklet showing the colour coding etc for each of the connections.
This is very useful.
Autosparks website is clear on what you may need.
In the technical section of this forum are several wiring diagrams.

What you will find extremely useful is a copy of the guide produced by (I think) Mike Cassidy) which was in the e type club magazine some time ago and may also be in the technical section of the forum.

Gerry

I can strongly recommend the wiring diagrams book produced by Coventry Auto Components if you are going to DIY.

https://coventryautocomponents.co.uk/st ... es-2-etype

You will wonder how you managed without it!

Danny, have a look in the knowledge section to see the other wiring diagrams and the differences. Similar but different. Gerry can find them there but the Coventry Auto Components’ ones Mike points to are very beneficial as they separate out into each circuit.

I’ve just checked the link in the forum technical section regarding how to rewire but this link doesn’t work any longer.
It’s mainly focused on L to R conversion but has a great deal of useful and I would say essential information.
If you wish I have a PDF copy I could email you - just send me a PM with your email address.

Steve— if this causes any issues with copyright etc please advise

Gerry,

Just be aware that in late ‘69, the S2 wiring was changed to incorporate the ballast resistor:

http://etype.chrisvine.com/wp-content/u ... oom015.JPG

Also the ignition relay’s position changed right at the end of the S2 production run where it was moved to the bulkhead just behind & above the pedal box.

I think Autosparks also provide a mini-loom for this change but might not be included in the normal S2 wiring set unless requested.
