Post by tonyabacus » Sun Nov 02, 2025 10:45 am

I have an S2, and a copy of the Coventry Auto Components wiring diagrams. However I appear to have lost/misplaced the page relating to the fuse boxes and wiring. Can anyone coy the page and post it here for me please
Thanks
Tony

Tony, I think it would be wrong to post their diagrams openly, BUT I will see if I can include it in a pm to you.

Have to say that I thought the Coventry Auto "diagrams" - which I know are referred to everywhere as a must - were a real disappointment for the S1 3.8 they purported to define.

Considering they are sold by Autosparks alongside their loom ............. there are umpteen discrepancies between the two.

I actually wrote, as I worked back in 2023, a copious and detailed critique of all the errors I found, on top of what I particularly remember as the piss-poor representation (were they reversed ?) of the fuse-boxes, but then decided life was too short - nobody would have done anything about it, given the usual cynicism of suppliers - and just motored on with the original wiring diagram, which was a much better guide.

My judgement would be that if you're half-competent with electrics, Coventry Auto stuff is a distraction.

Rory, some of the diagrams are from behind a panel as you would be seeing them when attaching wires to e.g. a gauge. I’ve taken one of the technical knowledge wiring diagram and used software to delete unwanted (air con) sections and made it easier to see and zoom in.
So a combination of both is what I would use. Each to their own and own ability.

Geof and Others
Thanks Geoff for the copy, still not found the original, but happy you sent the ost.
The Coventry Auto Components books are generally very good and contain most of what we need in a good readable format.

I have the benefit of help from a chap who has been involved in many E Type restorations, he often tells me about the changes he comes across from cars in the same model year. So I think we are both agreed that the factory made constant changes and upgrades as they went along. Even the most well researched documents can contain the odd error depending on the source of that information, so don't be too hard on members that post their findings, based on their experience. Also after so many years cars have had things like the wiring modified and not always correctly.
