Dr Google tells me there is a small hole in the casing and if you insert a pin, with the key turned to Aux, the lock pulls out but I can't see a hole.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the key barrel from a 1969 Series 2 E type?

Look at the link I posted in your other thread.....Steve ps on a Britex you can drill out the pin to release the key switch and re tap for a grub screw to re assemble
