#1 Brake Resevoir bottles

Post by myharris » Sun Jun 26, 2011 6:15 pm

Has anyone ever ordered a Motive Power Bleeder..with an adapter that fits the reservoirs. This is for the ''normal'' square shaped plastic reservoirs with aluminum round caps. I originally ordered and received the MVP-0100 European..whose adapter didn't fit the reservoir threads. Upon talking to their support I was advised that the Girling 1.75 ID Adapter, part number 1123, was the correct part..and according to my callipers, this appeared to be the right size BUT this arrived and this doesn't fit as well. As anyone ever ordered a Motive Power Bleeder ADAPTER that fits a 67 series 1 OTS reservoir bottle ? If so, Please share what the part number is. Thanks

Hi myharris,

I just stumbled over this really old post which unfortunately had never been commented by anybody. Seems like you and me are the only ones changing their brake fluid by themselves. Did you ever manage to find out or did you end up making your own adaptor? I'd be curious as I was planning to buy the same Motive power bleeder...

Best regards from California,
Mike

haha! I presume there are plenty (like me) who change their own brake fluid, I at least remember another thread on the forum where there was some tips on using catheter syringes (e.g. big volume and big nozzle) to plug straight into the hose at the bottom of the reservoir, thus being able to "pressure fill" the system. And then of course there is the multitude of vacuum bleed systems for connection to the bleed nipples on the calipers.

Hello Mike,
I took this universal adaptator (
) The quality is good, but I will try to make one by myself this spring.
Here is a link (you will understand even if you don't read french, with the pictures) to build easily an adaptator. http://miniressource.free.fr/docs/purgerfrein.pdf

Mike, this is your first-ever post on this forum and you make a comment like that??? You have recently appeared on Jag-lovers too and seem to make similar noises over there.

You are obviously an experienced guy and will doubtless have a lot to offer but none of us are infallible. You've already been corrected for a pretty basic error elsewhere so please, welcome, join in, but be aware you are newly-arrived on two forums where I think it is fair to say there are many people who match or exceed your own familiarity with E-types, Jaguars in general and the technical aspects of engineering. You may think these are two 'ordinary' forums but they are quite extraordinary, as you will learn if you stick around. The occasional smiley and/or a less declamatory tone would go a long way...

If I have misread you here and on J-L I apologise.

Cheers
Pete
