#1 IRS refurb

Post by MartinA » Sat Jan 25, 2014 8:29 pm

I am having the IRS on my S2 OTS refurbished and have a few questions:

1. What colour should the diff be painted? It's a 1970 car and it's currently black, but I have seen a few in red. Also I notice that some left the factory in red oxide only.

2. What shock absorbers would you recommend? I am thinking about Koni classics.

3. Would you replace the road springs? They look ok, but how can I tell if they are OK?

Thanks in advance.

Martin

1. Black. The diff itself is red oxide "pumpkin"coloured. Hub carriers are natural aluminium.
2. Can of worms here! Personally I used the Boge ones from Barratts.
3. I have with the 2 IRS I have done. The springs are nearly 50 years old. Again Barratts will sell the springs fitted to the Boge shocks as a unit for a pretty reasonable price.
