Hi all, Ist time for me to post topic
I have bought a 1969 2+2 4.2 fitted with overdrive (I understand that is very rare?) and 7J Minilite wheels with knock off centre lock spinners, with 205x70x15 Corsa tyres. On the front I find that the front wheels are within 3-4 mm off touching the brake disks! Fortunately there is a 5mm spacer that I am in the process off swoping from the front side to the rear side off the bolt on adapter which will give the extra clearance and bring the wheels out I seem to have enough clearance on the outer bonnet edge to do this.
On the rear the tyres are very close to the outside wing edge, I am looking to move the spacer to take the wheel inboard by 5mm.
Before I complete this any comments/advise as to suitability off this set up the wheels and tyres look almost new I am a bit suspect off tyres never heard off Corsa Tyres? Next to nothing on web either about them.
Thanks in advance Joe Croughan. :? :?

Welcome to the Forum!
Those wheels are very big, usually 6" are the widest we see unless the arches have been modified. Have you tried taking one off the rear because it may be a challenge! If it has overdrive then it has been modified as it was not standard. Car probably was an auto and has a MOD (manual, over-drive) conversion - no harm in that.
There are several posts on wide wheels e.g: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... ght=wheels but having owned and driven various tyre/wheel combinations my personal preference is for the standard setup. You will find your steering is very heavy where it should be delicate and the car will tramline at speed making progress difficult and tiring. High speed cornering will probably bring the sidewalls into contact with the bodywork and the extra stress will reduce the life of the diff seals. Solid wheels do improve the handling but 7J is probably a step too far for road use.
