#1 Removing Engine & Gear box from series 2 1970 e-type

Post by ndinsdale » Fri Mar 28, 2014 1:37 pm

Hi

Hope someone can help. I want to remove the engine & gearbox from my e-type. I've got a 2 tone hoist but I could only find a 680kg Load Leveller to help angle both parts out. Will this hold the weight of both Gearbox & Engine?

Kind Regards

Yes, easily. The engine and box together, along with ancillaries, weigh about 700 lbs or 320 kgs . Thesafest way to do it is to lower the unit to a trolley on the floor and then lift the front of the car and wheel the whole shebang out from under. This takes a little more time because the carburetters and inlet manifold have to be removed, but it does avoid the very steep angle of lift which is required to do the job upwards
