#1 Series 2 restoration - Transport frame

Post by ndinsdale » Thu Apr 24, 2014 11:00 am

Hi I was hoping someone can help

I'm looking to strip my e-type back to the shall ready for treating and painting. I've noticed on other people pictures, people have built a frame with wheels to transport the body. Does anyone have designs for this & the right wood to use

Cheers

Hi

I got the frame/jig with the car, the chap got a pattern (not sure where from) and made the frame and welded it up. It has other parts not shown that connect the front to the bulkhead when the front frames are removed so that it is very rigid.

There seem to be a number of different designs and home made jigs out there and you can hire them as a well I'm told.

I think you know where the rollover rig is from, Mark (Mace) recommended that and it is very good, simple and adjustable.

Definitely a good move to use a frame of some sort.
