#1 S2 - Replacement Cooling fans
It's been heavily documented that the standard S2 fans draw alot of current and aren't particularly efficient.
Has anyone removed them and installed modern flat versions straight into the fan cowl as per the offering from Radtec?

Look at the CoolCat S2 fans from Mike Eck.

I have never had the slightest overheating problem with my S2 OTS, including e.g queueing for more than 1 hour to get into Le Mans in 80 degree ( F ) heat . The cooling system is so much more efficient than that on my S1. I have never seen it suggested that the S2 system is inefficient - the twin fans work extremely well . This is the system you have is it ? If it is a large multi bladed cowled single fan your system is probably from an S1.5

They do draw more than the S1 fan but why is that a problem? You have an alternator so power supply is not a problem. If you check out Angus Moss's excellent blog you will see he only uses the original fans on his restorations and never reports a problem: http://www.mossjaguar.com/in-the-workshop.html

Not in essence, but at some stage i'll replace the radiator (which has a very slight leak) with an alloy one and i was deliberating fitting this at the same time:

Ahh - see where you are going now. With one of their radiators (I have their Marston clone) I found I can run the original single fan without problem. On the other hand with modern traffic densities and the likelihood of being caught in a long jam the extra reassurance of the Spall's is probably money well spent.

Hi,
I also never experienced any overheating problems with my radiator on my S2. They work absolutely perfect.
Personally I think it's a waste of money to replace the radiator and give up orginality for no reason.
Regards,
Richard

OK, taken your collective advice :D
Everything works as it should so, i'll stick with the current S2 fans and cowl but will upgrade to a Radtec alloy rad later this year (as the current rad has a very slight leak)
