Hello all,
I'm looking for an E-type and found a '69 serie II with a steel sliding sunroof. The company that is selling the car is saying that it is an original sunroof!
Can anyone confirm if the factory has made E-type with manul steel sliding sunroofs?
Thanks in advance.

Apparently not, Clausager's Originality Guide doubts that any were factory fitted, rather fabric roofs were dealer fitted or even owner fitted.

There certainly were a few FHCs with manual roofs. They turn up now and then on xkedata . It would have been impossible for them to have been retrofits, because the setup is really quite complex , but they were probably special orders

I chatted to a guy at Silverstone the other day, he had a MK2 Jag with a n electric steel sunroof. He said it was only available from the factory as the shell needed extra strengthening during manufacture ?

I chatted to a guy at Silverstone once who told me not to overtske him. I ignored him as well.

I've always hated the looks of a Webasto fabric roof, but that one looks like it belongs there. It closely resembles the sliding roof on my VDP; once it's closed, it's hardly noticeable. I would guess that this one looks similarly unobtrusive. Very cool!
