Just finished changing the old 3.54 diff for a 2.88 out of a XJS, also changed the shocks and spring and modified the handbrake as per dave k' s email.
Just need to complete the round of greasing... Just how many grease nipples are there?
Running report tomorrow.....
Eight hours well spent

A 2.88 diff is one I'm considering to replace my 3.54, so it'll be interesting to read the running reports.
Is yours a standard or upgraded engine?

Good news, this would appear to be a well worth doing. The car is so much more refined now, And I don't notice any great reduction in acceleration forces if any. I like it.
Btw, the engine is standard.

How do you find it around town? My experience is that first is too low and second is too high to maintain kangaroo free progress at 25-30 mph. You will find on the road you will need to be one gear lower although that is no hardship unless you tackle an uphill hairpin.

I've not really had a great deal of time with it yet, but it didn't seem a problem as I didn't notice a need to think about gearing in town. Overall, I think it's better all round.

Zei220, any running further reports yet?
Also, what level of workshop equipment did you need? Trying to imagine whether it's a possible home garage job, or one for the professional workshop.
