Help with car mats needed
#1 Help with car mats needed
Thinking of getting new car mats for my 1969 series 2 2+2
SNG barratt don't seem to list them. Have found a supplier who looks ok, advertising specifically tailored mats for 1973 e types. I'm thinking 1973 would be ok, as that would be series 3 which used same long wheel base as the 2+2 (if that makes a difference!)
Can anyone confirm that, or point me in a better direction?
Thanks
Malcolm

I would have thought that BAS in South Wales , or Coverdale UK in Wigan were as good a source as anyone .

The Trim Centre in Nuneaton (http://www.thetrimcentreltd.com) made me up a set when I had my car re-trimmed that are indistinguishable from the carpets that they cover. Very happy with them. I recommended them to someone on here a little while back and if memory serves me correctly a new set was posted out to them within a couple of days. They do a lot of Jaguar work so if you tell them your year and model and your existing trim finish they should be able to match them perfectly.
Hope this helps

Hi Malcolm,
SNG definitely sell rubber mats for long wheelbase E-types as I bought some from them. They fit well but in my case needed modifications around the throttle pedal as some cars have different design here. I had to cut to fit around the floor mounted throttle pedal.
Call them as they don't list everything online.
Regards,
Simon

Thanks all for the info.
I'll try ringing SNG on Monday, for info, then try the other suppliers mentioned here.

By the way, a couple of you mentioned BAS - I google searched it and came up with the "British Alpaca Society". I'm guessing that's not who you were referring to! Although Alpaca hair mats might be nice.........

I think you need to google BAS Jaguar trim. BAS do make very nice quality trim parts, I have got a few interior trim off them and very happy with the fit and finish

To update you, I spoke to SNG and they don't do carpeted floor mats. BAS do of course, although they quoted "?150 to ?170" for a set., and they'd probably be great. Also sp[opke to "carmats4u" who offer a full tailored set for ?35 inc delivery. These are the people who state they are for a 1973 E type. I phoned them, and they couldn't have been more helpful. They are sending me a set of paper templates free of charge so I can make sure they fit. They said that if they don't, if I mark up the templates and send them back, even if they are only a few mms out, they'll cut a set specially for no extra money. Sounds fair!
